Noise-cleaning the precision matrix of fMRI time series

no code implementations6 Feb 2023 Miguel Ibáñez-Berganza, Carlo Lucibello, Francesca Santucci, Tommaso Gili, Andrea Gabrielli

We observe that the so called Optimal Rotationally Invariant Estimator, based on Random Matrix Theory, leads to a significantly lower distance from the true precision matrix in synthetic data, and higher test likelihood in natural fMRI data.

The Evolution of Competitiveness across Economic, Innovation and Knowledge production activities

no code implementations1 Jun 2022 Aurelio Patelli, Lorenzo Napolitano, Giulio Cimini, Emanuele Pugliese, Andrea Gabrielli

The evolution of economic and innovation systems at the national scale is shaped by a complex dynamics, the footprint of which is the nested structure of the activities in which different countries are competitive.

The unbalanced reorganization of weaker functional connections induces the altered brain network topology in schizophrenia

no code implementations24 Jan 2019 Rossana Mastrandrea, Fabrizio Piras, Andrea Gabrielli, Nerisa Banaj, Guido Caldarelli, Gianfranco Spalletta, Tommaso Gili

Network neuroscience shed some light on the functional and structural modifications occurring to the brain associated with the phenomenology of schizophrenia.

The Statistical Physics of Real-World Networks

no code implementations11 Oct 2018 Giulio Cimini, Tiziano Squartini, Fabio Saracco, Diego Garlaschelli, Andrea Gabrielli, Guido Caldarelli

In the last 15 years, statistical physics has been a very successful framework to model complex networks.

Reconstructing topological properties of complex networks using the fitness model

no code implementations8 Oct 2014 Giulio Cimini, Tiziano Squartini, Nicolò Musmeci, Michelangelo Puliga, Andrea Gabrielli, Diego Garlaschelli, Stefano Battiston, Guido Caldarelli

A major problem in the study of complex socioeconomic systems is represented by privacy issues$-$that can put severe limitations on the amount of accessible information, forcing to build models on the basis of incomplete knowledge.

Bootstrapping topology and systemic risk of complex network using the fitness model

no code implementations28 Sep 2012 Nicoló Musmeci, Stefano Battiston, Guido Caldarelli, Michelangelo Puliga, Andrea Gabrielli

The missing links are generated on the basis of the latter quan- tity according to a fitness model calibrated on the subset of nodes for which links are known.
