The role of stochastic and smooth processes in regulating galaxy quenching

no code implementations21 Jan 2021 Rain Kipper, Antti Tamm, Elmo Tempel, Roberto de Propris, Punyakoti Ganeshaiah Veena

In galaxies with decreasing star formation, we show that star formation is lost to fast quenching mechanisms such as ram pressure stripping and is countered by mergers, at a rate of about 41% Gyr$^{-1}$ and to mass quenching 49% Gyr$^{-1}$.

Clustering of red and blue galaxies around high-redshift 3C radio sources as seen by the Hubble Space Telescope

no code implementations13 Oct 2020 Zohreh Ghaffari, Martin Haas, Marco Chiaberge, S. P. Willner, Rolf Chini, Hendrik Hildebrandt, Michael West, Roberto de Propris

To properly understand the evolution of high-redshift galaxy clusters, both passive and star-forming galaxies have to be considered.
