Looking through the photoionisation wake: Vela X-1 at $\varphi_\mathrm{orb} \approx 0.75$ with Chandra/HETG

no code implementations24 Feb 2021 R. Amato, V. Grinberg, N. Hell, S. Bianchi, C. Pinto, D. D'Aí, M. Del Santo, T. Mineo, A. Santangelo

The Supergiant X-ray binary Vela X-1 represents one of the best astrophysical sources to investigate the wind environment of a O/B star irradiated by an accreting neutron star.

We discuss the potential origins of the high-energy components in both states, and favor an interpretation where the part of the high-energy component is due to a compact jet in the hard state and hybrid Comptonization in either a magnetised or non-magnetised corona in the soft state.

High resolution X-ray spectroscopy of Supergiant HMXB 4U1700$-$37 during the compact object eclipse

no code implementations22 Dec 2020 M. Martínez-Chicharro, V. Grinberg, J. M. Torrejón, N. Schulz, L. Oskinova, M. Nowak, F. Fürst, N. Hell, R. Hainich

We present an analysis of the first observation of the iconic High Mass X-ray Binary \so with the \chandra High Energy Transmission Gratings during an X-ray eclipse.
